Immune Cells in Brain AVMs: New Perspectives for Preventing Brain Haemorrhage
A brain arteriovenous malformation (AVM) is an abnormal tangle of blood vessels in the brain and a major cause of brain haemorrhage in children and young adults. These malformations contain unusually high numbers of activated immune cells, which may contribute to their growth and the instability of their blood vessels. By investigating the role of immune cells in AVMs, this research project aims to uncover the underlying mechanisms of vascular instability and identify novel therapeutic strategies to reduce the risk of brain haemorrhage.
